IMT Styles

June-July 2006

Issue number one of IMT Styles debuted on June 11, 2006 The cover shoot got canceled twice…on the same day and wasn’t set to feature male models at all except as eye candy in conjunction with the booked celebs, a trio of singers newly signed to a major label. It's two years later and I think the trio has become a duo and no one's heard any music from them except probably via Myspace. It was the first and only issue to feature a male model on the cover.

August-September 2006

Issue number two was a coup at the time. Not only did it feature soap opera starlet Leven Rambin in the inaugural version of “20 questions” but it also had  the amazing Abiola Abrams on the cover. A year later and Leven’s done a guest spot on “Law and order: svu” and has been nominated for at least one  daytime Emmy. Oh and I think I spotted Abiola on Vh1's “Tough Love” but I could be wrong.

October-November 2006

This was our third issue and it was evident we were still growing as the cover for this offering completely changed the tone of things. Featuring a light backdrop, less competing colors and an overall sleeker design. Maybe it was all of the feminine energy since the two photographers were both female, including Michelle Wild who shot her first cover story for us and has to date shot more things than I can remember.

December-January 2006/2007

Issue number four was a turning point for us in a lot of ways. It was our first and most tightly themed issue.  It was also more content heavy than our earlier offerings. Not only did we get to finally shoot “Alice in Wonderland” which we seriously spent about a year planning and re-planning but I also got to meet Mylah from MTV’s “Making the band 3”. Mylah may not have made the band but she was and still is an amazing singer and in high spirits. And considering the recent drama with Danity Kane (namely the group splitting) she may be much better off. Issue number four was the second time we featured someone twice in the same issue as model Issanna appeared both in the “Alice and Wonderland spread” and  in an article entitled “See Jane win” which spotlighted her company Gram productions. The first and only other time this occurred was in our first issue where model Ani was in a spread previewing a line of handbags and her face graced the Karma section which it did for the first two years.

February-March 2007

Issue number five was an homage to the movies and filled with more drama than a whole slew of Hollywood blockbusters. The day of the cover shoot not one but two models canceled and yet true to form we still managed to get everything out on time and as good as if not better than originally planned.  Issue number five was the first issue to feature more than one cover, to date we've had two more.

April-May 2007

Issue number six AKA the reality show roundup featured  not only cover girl Persia but it also spotlighted fellow “White rapper show” contestants Sullee (“20 questions”), John Brown (“Hustle & flow”) and Misfit “Who’s that girl”. In addition it showcased Rachel who appeared on MTV’s “Road rules” as well as numerous challenges.
